Residentvania: Ocuma is Not a Game of Evil

Residentvania is perhaps one of the few video games that combines old-school survival horror, and modern action. In other words, it's a combination of Zelda and the Tomb Raider series. The game starts as you find yourself in a small village, and while exploring you find yourself trapped in an underground facility that has many dangerous creatures.

There are two different game modes - the adventure mode where you explore the underground base, and the battle mode where you have a variety of weapons and tools to help you fight off the monster waves. The combat is very good, and the pixel art is quite nice too. Most of the artwork is used in the menu screens, though some is used in the in-game cut scenes. Overall, I'd say that the majority of the artwork is well suited to the gameplay, but there are a few stray pieces that don't fit and could probably be used for something better. Sound and music is on par, with a decent mixture of thriller horror music interspersed throughout the game.

Overall, I really enjoyed playing Residentvania. It's not a horror or action game, so it's not like you're fighting hordes of monsters. Instead, you're just finding out about the townspeople's secret, and trying to get to safety. The storyline is rather simple, yet captivating. I'm looking forward to future games in the series, as the concept of the game is incredibly exciting.
